Serge Mouille Floor Lamp

Mouille crafted his angular, insect-inspired lighting designs as a purposeful reaction to the influx of Italian lighting styles in the 1950s, which he considered overly intricate. His iconic large-scale Three-Arm Floor Lamp (1952) exemplifies a dynamic, sculptural form that introduces a sense of movement and energy into any space. Each arm can be independently rotated in various directions, allowing for versatile and precise illumination tailored to different tasks or moods.

This Three-Arm Lamp was commissioned by a client who requested, "I want a big light because I have clients in South America who have huge rooms." The lamp highlights Mouille’s signature design features: the distinctive connection between the arms and diffusers, the use of washers and six-sided screws, the unique shape of the reflectors, and the clean, refined lines of the steel tubing.
